The Barthe family have maintained and passed on the Grand Bireau & Valrose vineyards since the 18th century. It is now in the hands of the brilliant brothers, Ludovic and Lionel. Ludo is in charge of the cellar and commerce, whilst Lionel is found in the in the vineyards leaf stripping, thinning and keeping a good grass cover. Château Grand Bireau in the Entre-deux-Mers appellation is one of the most pretty, floral wonders of the region. Produced organically by the Barthes on their Daignac vineyard, on the left bank of the Dordogne, it surprises with its freshness and exotic fruit scent. It is blend of 4 grape varieties:
(10% Muscadelle, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 30% Sémillon, 30% Sauvignon Blanc)
The vineyard has been certified organic since 2014. In addition, the team follow the biodynamic calendar, since the château is in biodynamic conversion.
