AA Badenhorst Family Wines are grown, made and matured on Kalmoesfontein farm in the Swartland appellation of South Africa. The 28hc of old bush-vines grow in the Siebritskloof part of the Paardeberg mountain. Adi Badenhorst’s inspiration comes from the great, past wines of South Africa and the discarded grape varieties, the bottles of which can be found in dusty corners of old cellars before modern methods and fame came along and changed the purity of the wines. The vines are unirrigated, farmed as biologically as possible and planted on north, east, and south facing slopes bringing tremendous variety to the fruit. The soils are granite heavy plus clay, weathered granite and some serious shale. Fruit from selected farms is purchased, to complete the final blends. Organic farming but uncertified.
