Pheasant’s Tears, ‘Kisi’, Tibaani 2019 Georgia Organic Amber wine

£20.00 Inc VAT

The Pheasant’s Tears Kisi appears a lovely amber colour, resulting from concentrated skin contact, and captivates with its nose of sweet peaches and almond blossom. On the palate, its considerable weight comes wrapped in hints of citrus fruits and fresh herbs. A fruity finish with a faint tannic touch.

Description

Founded in 2007 a joint project between John Wurdeman and Gela Patalishvili, Pheasant’s Tears
was set up to revive the ancient traditions of Georgian winemaking. The vineyard plantings flow down the slopes of the eastern Georgian Kiziqi province overlooking the Alazani Valley and snow-capped Caucasus Mountains.

The Pheasant’s Tears’ principal site is located near the village of Tibaani in the shadow of the 6th-century Monastery of St. Stephen. Pheasant’s Tears owns several vineyards spread over several villages – there are 15 ha currently under vine, plus various others in the process of being planted.

In Tibaani, John and Gela are dedicating vineyards to rare white varietals. The Kisi is from vines planted in 2012 from one-year old plants raised in a greenhouse.
