Description

The estate was founded by Bill and Susan Sokol Blosser in 1971 as part of a hippie dream. It’s located in the Dundee Hills of Oregon, some 30 miles southwest of Portland on America’s west coast. Six years were spent renovating the vineyards and cellar, the first vintage being released in 1977.

The 35-hectare vineyards are farmed organically, certification being granted in 2005. Local organic straw, organic cow and horse manure, grape pomace and organic rock phosphate all contribute to the composting, while the insect population is kept in check by a resident flock of bluebirds.

Although Pinot Noir is the main grape grown, plantings of Pinot Gris, Muller-Thurgau, Syrah and Zinfandel have also been made. ‘Evolution Red 9th Edition’ is a blend of the afore-mentioned red grape varieties and is bright and fresh with excellent acidity.

The Evolution Range was born out of niche for quality blends. Producing a proprietary blend like Evolution is a combination of art and science. People always joke around, asking whether it was created on purpose or if they just blended leftovers and it happened to work, which is why “Luck VS Intention” features heavily on the label.
