Winemaker Fabrice Gras crafted his trade as the maker of Bollinger. His ‘Alexandre Filaine’ label was originally a project created as a hobby to be drunk for his own and friends’ consumption. Cuvée Spéciale is fermented in 100 yo barrels with indigenous yeasts and no malolactic fermentation. The privately-owned and organically farmed vineyards, which extend over just a hectare and a half, are divided into seven plots, at Damery in the Marne valley and yield about 3,000 bottles a year. The Cuvée Spéciale is the perfect continuum of decadence, power, minerality, and breath-taking vinosity. This is soulful and seamless juice that is undoubtedly the outcome of nearly perfect and thoroughly conscientious farming. Delicate and bone-dry.
